What to Expect at the Airport

At SRQ, you will find smaller crowds providing you with a built-in advantage from a social distancing perspective. No need to take a shuttle or train to catch your plane and less crowding means a safer and more convenient environment for our users.

SRQ has taken steps to fight the spread of COVID-19

Cleaning Procedures

We have doubled our janitorial staff and pay special attention to cleaning heavily touched areas such as handrails, door handles, and elevator buttons, using hospital grade disinfectants.

Plastic Shields

Shields have been installed at every counter position in the airport, including rental car counters, visitor’s desks, and gate podiums.

We have installed signage reminding passengers of safe practices at the entrance doors.

You will hear reminders of safe practices on the public address system.

Face Coverings

All airport employees are required to wear face coverings in public areas. Tenants and passengers are asked to do the same.

Air Conditioning System

SRQ uses hospital grade filters plus UV disinfection lights internally in the airport’s air conditioning system.
Travelers now place their boarding pass on the boarding pass reader themselves, then should hold the pass in view of the TSA officer for visual inspection, thus reducing potential for cross-contamination.
Travelers should place their carry-on food items into a clear plastic bag and place that bag into a bin. TSA Precheck members do not need to remove items from their bags.
Travelers should take extra care to ensure that they do not have any prohibited items in their carryon’s reducing the need to touch bags. TSA is allowing one liquid hand sanitizer container, up to 12 ounces per passenger, in carry-on bags.
Travelers should allow for social distancing to reduce direct contact between employees and passengers.
TSA officers at checkpoints are now using facial protection. They also increased the use of gloves and the frequency of replacement.
