Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Opens Phase One Of Newly Renovated Check In Area

SRQ today unveiled a stunning new check in area design, which further enhances the SRQ passenger experience and will eventually be implemented throughout the terminal.

The check in area improvements offer a brighter look with new terrazzo floors, ceiling and wall finishes plus LED and electronic ballast lighting. The sleek, contemporary styling is more economical and easy to maintain and the new lighting systems are environmentally friendly. The remaining ticketing area is due to be completed within 3 months.

This is part of a master plan to renovate many areas of the airport. During the past 2 years, SRQ has put in new escalators, renovated all the restrooms, replaced the chillers and HVAC systems, updated information technology infrastructure, updated the baggage screening system, resealed most of the building exterior and replaced the roof and skylights.

The remaining terminal renovations, which include the second level concourse, third level office facilities and baggage claim, will be completed over the next two to three years and will provide the community with an efficient, modern day transportation hub that continues to grow and provide economic impact.

President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Piccolo stated, “In two years the community will essentially have a new terminal and we are very excited to see this phase complete.”
