The Airport Police Department (APD) is an independent FDLE certified Police Department under the Airport Authority. Because of the geographical layout of the airport, APD has jurisdictions in Sarasota County, Manatee County and the City of Sarasota, FL. In such, APD provides a wide variety of law enforcement, security, and safety services for the traveling public and the airport community. Their primary responsibility is safety of the entire Airport property, terminal and airport traffic control. APD also works directly with the United States Department of Homeland Security in adherence to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations. The APD staff includes a Police Chief, Police Captain, Police Sergeants, Corporals, Officers, and Civilian Traffic Control Specialists. All sworn staff are highly trained in traditional and airport policing. The entire staff are all front line representatives at SRQ and thus are dedicated to providing friendly customer service.

Traffic Control

The Airport is required by the TSA to ensure that all vehicles stopping curbside (ticketing or baggage claim) to do so only for "immediate" passenger drop-off or pickup. Please respect the directions of the Traffic Control Specialist when using the Airport Terminal roadways. We ask that you keep in mind your fellow traveler and the need to ensure the safety and security of all airport patrons when visiting our Airport.

30 Minutes or Less, Free Parking

To alleviate congestion and frustration in the area of the Terminal curbsides, free parking in the short-term parking lot is provided. Please note that if you park longer than 30 minutes, the regular hourly parking rates are in effect. This would allow one to wait in the parking lot "less than 30 minutes on us" until your passenger is at curbside and ready for pickup.
